Nestled in New York City’s East Village on Avenue A between 2nd and 3rd Streets is a unique local dog business called Ruff Club. Unlike typical pet stores and daycare centers you might find around Manhattan, Ruff Club is actually a dog-friendly social club. That’s right, it’s an exclusive club for dogs and their owners.

To join Ruff Club, prospective members first submit an application and their dogs complete a temperament screening. If approved, dog owners pay an annual fee ($149) for exclusive membership. This allows them to come to Ruff Club anytime, Monday-Friday 7am-8pm, Saturday 10am-8pm, or Sunday 10am-5pm. Members can sit at a table or the bar (original to Aces & Eights Saloon which previously occupied the space), sip a complimentary cup of locally-roasted coffee, and enjoy free Wi-Fi.
